Quick Summary: Upload Activists Using a CSV File

In this Action Network tutorial, learn how to add activists in bulk by uploading a CSV file. While I'm using Google Sheets, you can use other tools like Excel as well.

Uploading in bulk can help eliminate errors and, of course, save you tons of time. ⏰ If you’re only looking to add a single activist, check out our How to Add an Activist tutorial.

STEP-BY-STEP

How to Bulk Upload Activists in Action Network

Add hundreds or even thousands of activists in one shot by uploading using a CSV file.

Before we begin, you’ll need your CSV file. After adding your contacts to a spreadsheet in a tool like Google Docs or Excel, save or download as a .csv file.

In this example, I used columns for First Name, Last Name and Email Address.

Once you have a CSV file saved, head on over to Action Network and follow the steps below.

  1. Under People in the main menu, hover over Uploads and click on the Add New icon.
  2. Click on the Browse for a File link. Locate the file on your computer and upload it to Action Network.
  3. Give your upload a title. This is an internal title to help you keep track of your uploads.
  4. Add any appropriate tags. For example, if you’d like to add this list of activists to your newsletter tag, select it so that they receive your email newsletter.
  5. Review the options and check off any that make sense for you and your team as seen below. Then, check off the required confirmation checkbox at the bottom and click on the Upload & Match Fields button.
  6. Match the columns from your CSV file on the left of your screen to the fields found within the dropdowns on the right of your screen. Then, hit the Finish Upload button.
  7. You will then be taken to the Uploads page where it lists all of your past uploads. You can click on the upload you just created to view more info about that particular upload.
